Multi-agency working

It is imperative for professionals to work together when supporting adults at risk of abuse and neglect.

If a case meets the threshold for a section42 enquiry, please follow the s42 enquiry route. This multi-agency risk escalation pathway should only be used for those cases that do not meet the criteria for s42 enquiries.

If a resident remains at high risk despite previous intervention efforts by your service/agency, you should consider referring them to the appropriate multi-agency panel for consideration.  Please refer to the Adult Social Care Complex Care Pathway. You will also find a multi-agency risk meeting template that you may wish to use when convening a multi-agency meeting.

Please refer to the Islington Risk Escalation flowchart here. You will also find more information on the escalation risk panels and their criterion for referring.

In case of any situations where risk cannot be resolved between agencies and matters need to be escalated to the Islington Safeguarding Adults Board the Risk Escalation and Dispute resolution policy should be consulted.
