On Zero Discrimination Day, celebrate the right of everyone to live a full and productive life and live it with dignity. Zero Discrimination Day educates and encourages everyone to promote inclusion, compassion, peace, and change. It aims to promote global solidarity to end discrimination for good. Discrimination is the biased, unjust treatment of someone, or groups of people, based on characteristics like race, gender, age, or sexual orientation.

If you have been treated differently by others based on any of the characteristics below, you could have experienced discrimination:
•    Age
•    Gender
•    Race
•    Disability
•    Religion
•    Pregnancy and maternity
•    Sexual Orientation
•    Gender reassignment
•    Marriage or civil partnership

All these characteristics are protected by the Equality Act 2010. Discrimination against someone who has care and support needs is also classified as a type of safeguarding adult abuse under the Care Act 2014. If you are worried about someone who may be at risk contact the Adult Social Care Access Team on 020 7527 2299 or complete the online safeguarding concern form.
